How Rating Works

TetroWars uses three separate Elo ratings:

Multiplayer Elo (MP)

Your PvP rating, based on classic Elo with a fixed K-factor. Every 1v1 and Battle Royale match affects it.

  • K = 40 for your first 20 ranked games (faster calibration)
  • K = 32 after that
  • Win against a stronger opponent = bigger gain
  • Win against a weaker opponent = smaller gain
  • ~+16 for a win against an equal opponent
  • Only 5 placement matches required before your rank is visible

Solo Elo (SP)

Every singleplayer game you play earns Solo Elo. Sprint, Blitz, Marathon, Cheese, Survival - they all count.

  • Solo Elo can only go up - you never lose SP rating
  • Bad game = +1, great game = up to +20
  • Gain scales with how close your performance is to the current #1 in that mode
  • The closer you are to the best, the more you earn

Combined Elo

This is what shows on your profile and in leaderboards. It is the average of your MP and SP Elo (50/50).

  • To climb the leaderboard, you need to be good at both PvP and solo
  • If you only play one mode, the other stays at 800 and drags your Combined down

Battle Royale Rating

BR has its own placement-based formula (separate from 1v1). What you gain or lose is fixed by where you finish, plus a bonus for beating high-Elo opponents.

Placement baseline (asymmetric - gains exceed losses):

  • 1st place: +35
  • Top 10%: +28 to +32
  • Top 25%: +18 to +25
  • Median: close to 0
  • Bottom 25%: -10 to -15
  • Last place: -20

High-Elo bonus: +4 Elo per opponent you placed ahead of who was rated at least 100 Elo above you. Beating strong players is rewarded directly.

Modifiers:

  • New players (under 20 ranked games): x1.5 for faster calibration
  • Max gain: +80, max loss: -30 per match
  • Elo floor: 100

Tips

  • Play both multiplayer and solo to maximize your Combined Elo
  • Solo Elo is risk-free - every game helps, none can hurt
  • 1v1 gains are consistent - your 50th game rewards the same as your 5th
