Hold Piece
Press the Hold key (default: C) to store your current piece for later use.
Rules
- When you hold a piece, you receive the next piece from the queue (or the previously held piece)
- You can only hold once per piece - after holding, you must place the new piece before holding again
- The held piece is shown in the Hold panel on the left side of the board
Strategy
- Hold I-pieces for Quad opportunities
- Hold T-pieces for T-Spin setups
- Use hold as an emergency escape when the current piece does not fit well
Next Queue
The next 5 pieces are displayed in the preview panel on the right side of the board.
7-Bag Randomizer
Pieces are generated using the 7-Bag system:
- All 7 pieces (I, O, T, S, Z, J, L) are placed in a bag
- The bag is shuffled randomly
- Pieces are dealt one at a time from the bag
- When the bag is empty, a new bag of all 7 pieces is shuffled
This guarantees:
- You will see each piece at least once every 7 pieces
- The maximum drought for any piece is 12 (last in one bag, first in the next is 13 apart, but you see it at position 7 and then at position 20 at worst = 13 gap, meaning max 12 pieces between)
- No truly unfair RNG streaks
